Mac Aegis Netdock

Apricorn accessories maker is offering a Mac edition of Aegis NetDock, originally designed to add functionality to netbooks.
The device, the size of an external hard drive, combines an optional disk drive 1 TB, a hub of four USB 2.0 ports and a DVD dual layer. The design allows the hard drive can be changed if users want more capacity, and the unit is compatible with Time Machine.
The Mac edition is distinguished by its red color and is intended for owners of MacBook Air, providing functional peripherals found in a full size laptop. The device is connected via the single USB port on the MBA and has two USB ports for charging. The device features an on-off function that automatically speeds up the drives when connected to the MacBook and off the device when not in use.

The Aegis NetDock is also available without a hard drive or a 500GB hard drive. The box can be opened with a single screw, and adapts to any hard disk SATA 2.5-inch 9.5 mm. The double-layer drive with DVD capability provides a standard 4x/8x/24x write speed (4x to burn DL), allowing users to record up to 8.5 GB dual-layer discs.
The unit is available in online stores and directly to Apricorn. The price is $ 69 with no hard drive, costs $ 199 with a 500 MB hard drive at 5400 rpm and 229 dollars with a 1 TB hard drive at 5,400 rpm. Includes a one year warranty.
